Yanek and Karelia haven't let their fame get to their heads.
I'd only met them once before (last March), and the only interaction I had with them was two dances with Karelia, and a brief "Hello" and "Thank you." I didn't even get a chance to formally introduce myself. To be honest, I kept conversations down to literally a few words with them since I figured they never have a second to breathe whenever they travel.
So I went to one of their workshops yesterday afternoon. Yanek sees me, shakes my hand, and addresses me BY NAME. We exchanged pleasantries and a short conversation before he started his Contra Tiempo workshop (which as always, was excellent). Not sure if I can quite believe this, but he told me Karelia was wondering why I wasn't at the party in Eugene the night before.
I'm flattered, embarrassed, and humbled at the same time. Is there a word for that? "Flatterembarreled?"
