Call me the Casino Vagabond.
Two months after making the drive from San Francisco to Portland and getting my feet wet (literally and figuratively) in the Pacific Northwest's Casino scene, it turns out there wasn't a weekly dedicated night for Timba (as detailed here). Having a weekly event is something I'd grown accustomed to (read: spoiled with) while in the Bay Area, and it was literally killing me that there wasn't a similar event here. I'd lay down on my friend's couch at night (thanks for those eight months, Alana, while I tried to get my $#!t together) and wonder what could be done about it.
You know how the old saying goes? "When you want something done right..."
Enter Muevete Jueves. All Timba every week, rain or shine.
Through a string of unorthodox circumstances, Muevete has become a traveling show of sorts. Here's a fun map of Muevete's travels throughout Portland:
The philosophy behind good social dancing, leading, following, and topics that discuss more than just Salsa Cubana.
