“The human capacity for burden is like bamboo- far more flexible than you'd ever believe at first glance.”
― Jodi Picoult, My Sister's Keeper
Leads- When leading a turn, never lead with the arms! The lead is with the body. The lead is on a specific beat (e.g., Enchufla is on the 1); meaning you can relax after leading that turn. Your partner's shoulders will thank you for it later.
Maybe the follower you're dancing with can't do certain movements, whether it be due to injury, unfamiliarity with the movement, etc. Learn to swing with it and you'll make the dance more enjoyable for the both of you.
Follows- remember that after being led through a turn, you can then relax your arms while you execute the turn that your Lead has asked of you. This does a few things:
- you won't be using your partner to balance yourself (very bad), and
- alardes and enganchos will be much easier to execute for both you and your Lead.
